Thank you for choosing Songbird Montessori Preschool. The Montessori Method is not affiliated with any religious organizations. The Montessori Method is used to teach all children. The method is based on individual learning & gives each child a sense of purpose.

 

What is the Montessori Method?

Maria Montessori was born in Acona, Italy in 1870. She was the first woman to receive a doctrine of medicine in Italy. Maria Montessori worked as a physician with challenged children, which reflects not only her compassion but also her exceptional scientific ability. Maria Montessori eventually moved on to devote all her energies to advocating the rights & the intellectual potential of all children. In 1907, Maria opened her first children’s house called “Casa Dei Bambini”. Casa Dei Bambini was one of the first organized childcare facilities in Rome. After a lifetime of achievement & devotion to children, Doctor Maria Montessori died in Holland, Amsterdam in 1952 at the age of 82.

 

About us:

Songbird Montessori is set up to provide a rich & stimulating environment for children between the ages of 2-6. We believe that children can learn naturally & happily as a part of his or her normal growth with the aid of concrete Montessori material & concepts. Songbird Montessori accepts children of all capabilities &/or gifts & from ethnic backgrounds. Children develop a sense of worth & value in what they do & who they are. The work process involves attaining skills, refining tasks, developing sensitivities, strengthening concentration, solving problems & achieving new insight. The developing goal is to become a happy & productive member of society, to achieve to “cope” & adapt well. Parents are a vital part of our program.

 

Facility:

In addition to a certificate to teach Montessori Education through North American Montessori Center, the owner & operator of Songbird Montessori (Kelsey Rooper) is committed to excellence in education & to the individual needs of children. We are a small Montessori school with ratios of 10:1, ten children to every one teacher. Our facility has a capacity of 15 children at a time. Anytime there is over 10 children in the building, two teachers will be working.
